Gingerbread House Icing: Which one is the best?
Photo by Snapwire on Pexels.com Building gingerbread houses is one of the most beloved holiday traditions, combining creativity, patience, and a bit of sugar and spice. The right icing not only holds the house together but also allows for intricate…

Stiff Royal Icing This version of royal icing is made with meringue powder so you don't have to use raw egg whites. It's white, shiny, and great for frosting cookies or sticking parts of a gingerbread house together. 2 tablespoons warm water or as needed, 12 cups confectioners' sugar, 3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar, 1/2 cup meringue powder, 1 tablespoon meringue powder, 1 cup warm water

Making gingerbread house kits for the peeps and I’m honestly really impressed with myself. The recipe for structural gingerbread from SugarGeekShow is fantastic. My big concern was the icing. The putty like royal icing worked great for structure and then diluting with a bit of water makes it great for decoration. The stained glass effect made by melting jolly ranchers was also a solid move. There are 4 other kits for peeps—just need to make enough icing which is easy :3.
My decorations are very minimal intentionally — don’t want to break into the peeps, other m&ms, candy canes, construction and origami paper — for the peeps. (Thank you target clearance noms….). It was a successful structural test.
None of that is also really edible. So I’ll have to supplement with regular gingerbread cookies and gingerbread cake for noms.

Can anyone recommend a good recipe for gingerbread house glue?
My icing never seems to stick when assembling and it just falls apart on me
I've got a good cookie recipe but the icing could use a bit of work tbh
Anyone?
Seriously, I need the help here
Beginner Gingerbreader
It's something I always thought I'd get into more but we just don't have it in my country
Also it's Summer during Christmas here, I'm a big Xmas girl (well that depends on the budget tbh)

@deathfavor ⸻ unprompted.
“ . . .  Don’t you dare laugh. I don’t see YOUR gingerbread house looking much better. “ Izana rests his chin against the palm of his hand, staring at the mess they’ve created in attempt of making two different gingerbread houses. Give the two of them a thousand men and they could beat them in a minute or two. Give them two gingerbread kits? Evidently, neither Izana nor Mikey could succeeded other than making a mess of frosting and collapsed walls.  (  For Manilla Izana & Mikey ! )
Tumblr media
The smile on Mikey’s face was genuine, staring upon their gingerbread houses with fondness even if neither of them came out right. Honestly, Mikey’s gingerbread house was missing half the candy from him munching on them while he had attempted to put the walls of the house together. But seeing Izana do just as poorly as him, made him smile even more, a hint of laughter threatening to leave him.
It wasn’t until Izana told him not to laugh, that Mikey let the laughter out, leaning back into his chair, letting his laughter fill the room. Though he wasn’t laughing at Izana, more like laughing at both of their failures. Still, he had fun doing this, getting Izana to help him make gingerbread houses really warmed his heart up and got him more into the spirit of christmas.
Tumblr media
“ Heh, sorry sorry! ” He stated, lifting a hand to poke at his own gingerbread house. “ Guess we both suck at making these huh? Still, it was fun right? ” Eyes moved from his gingerbread house to Izana and then down to the candies by Izana’s house.
“ Since they collapsed... you don’t need those candies do you? ” He moved a hand slowly over to Izana’s side to see if the other would allow him to steal one. “ Maybe the key to a successful one is if we work together next time! Do we have another box? ”

Stiff Royal Icing Instead of using raw egg whites, this royal icing recipe uses meringue powder. It is white and shiny and works well for decorating cookies or putting together the pieces of a gingerbread house.
